Coleman Rail specialises in rail and infrastructure construction within rail environments.
We are specialists at working in live rail environments and constrained sites requiring short-term occupations, speed of construction, the protection of assets and minimal disruption to track operations, vehicle traffic or pedestrian access.

Experienced in delivering both light rail and heavy rail projects, we have the specialist knowledge, expertise, resources, systems, plant and equipment to deliver successful outcomes in both brownfield and greenfield sites.

Operating throughout Australia, SE Asia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, Coleman Rail has over 25 years continuous involvement in rail track contracting. We have an in-house capacity to undertake civil and mechanical works, with the ability to share resources across the Geotech Holdings group through our sister companies – Geotechnical Engineering specialising in civil engineering and John Beever specialising in mechanical engineering.

Based in Melbourne, we have offices, stores and extensive workshop facilities for the maintenance and development of the specialised equipment required for our operations, at new facilities in Port Melbourne. We exclusively use our direct labour-force for our projects, minimising the use of sub-contractors. We have over 40 expert full-time construction workers and have access to over 100 experienced and reliable independent construction workers and plant operators.

We have successfully built our business systems to achieve safe outcomes for our clients, workers and stakeholders. We maintain direct control of our experienced workforce – a key element in delivering projects safely, particularly in brownfield environments.

We are well practiced in managing construction activities within operating rail, road, passenger and pedestrian environments. We have extensive experience managing train, tram, road traffic and pedestrian movements, as well as managing the needs of local communities, emergency services, transport operators, service authorities and other stakeholders.
